Loving Your Immune System: How to Support & Give a Hand to Your Hardest Working Systems

This morning, we’re harvesting carrots and talking about immunity! Maybe a bit of a leap for some, but when it comes to inflammation and hormone cycling (see our favorite carrot salad recipe below), it’s a pretty easy connection to make. We realized we don’t talk enough about our Immune System and how hard it works for us. So sit back and sip some tea, we’re about to talk immunity!

Your body is so amazing and when running properly, it has the ability to keep you safe from so much — so what can we do to care for our immune system that cares so much for us?

  • Inflammation is a major problem when it comes to our immunity. But it’s also our body’s way of communicating with us! To make sure we are hearing our body’s needs the best, we like to encourage folx to focus on a deflaming diet. Time to stock up on turmeric and black pepper, ginger & garlic. For those who struggle with hormone cycling, try a delightful salad of shredded carrots, apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.

  • Infrared Sauna. From enjoying a steamy hour in our two-person sauna to a quick ten minutes with an infrared bulb during an Ozone Therapy session with The Canary Community, Infrared helps turn on our Immune System and encourages it to work its muscles to cleanse our body. We love suggesting Infrared to those who are struggling to recover from being sick or athletes managing injuries or needing to reset amidst tough workout routines.

  • Magnesium. One of the most depleted minerals in our body, Magnesium, is vital to help our body develop energy from the food we eat to helping our systems fight against infection. Our LET Specialists even offer a Magnesium wrap that brings this mineral to every inch of our body during a 30-minute, heat-relaxing, wrap that’ll melt away your stress and help your body restock on one of the most precious minerals.

  • Speaking of minerals, let’s talk salt! While drinking plenty of water keeps your Lymphatic System healthy, it can also wash away a lot of vital minerals our Immune System needs to stay strong. Drinking water with sea salt (The Canary Community can hook you up during a session), bone broth, or dive deep with a Functional Medicine Specialist like Dr Danielle Bailey, or holistic experts like Dr Lexi Meleski and Neonatal Practitioner Jana Spillers, to learn about the exact minerals your body is lacking to match your unique needs with a supplement routine.

  • Support your Lymphatic System. Our bodies struggle from so much inflammation! From rough n’ tumble diets full of caffeine, alcohol, sugar, gluten, and fatty meats causing chronic constipation or bloating, to increased chemical contact and seasonal allergies leaving our lymph nodes swollen and stagnating our body’s ability to fight the constant onslaught of infections. Our day to day lives put our lymphatic system through the ringer, a system that is both delicate and an amazing feat of nature as it defies gravity and is the leading system that keeps our body cleansed every day (fun fact, you couldn’t survive more than 24 hours without a working lymphatic system). From finding a healthy diet, making detoxing a regular part of your routine, actively working to rid stress through therapy, to unclogging your lymph nodes and draining your sinuses through Lymphatic Enhancement Therapy, there are so many ways you can pour into the system that does the most for your immunity.

  • Consistency. No matter what we do, this one is the toughest and the most necessary. Drinking a lot of water on Monday doesn’t keep you hydrated all week. Daily consistency is important. And while so many of us are busy, we discovered that a lot of our struggle with consistency comes from struggles to shift patterns or being willing to change. We’ll dive into this more in our mental health posts this weekend, but for now, we’re taking on a challenge to commit to our immunity this year — whose with us?
